Frequently Asked Questions

Is the DBsign Web Signer compatible with Windows Vista and Windows 7?

Yes.   DBsign Web Signer version 3.0 works on Windows Vista and WIndows 7 (earlier versions do not).   You can download it here.

We have seen a few issues in the past with the way that Windows handles a user's certificates in Internet Explorer's protected mode.   It may be necessary to add web sites using DBsign to IE's trusted sites list.

If you are still having problems, please contact our support team.

Is there a Mac or Linux version of DBsign?

Yes.   We currently offer a cross-platform digital signature solution called the DBsign Universal Web Signer (UWS).

The UWS is a Java applet based solution that works on most operating systems and web browsers that support the Java plug-in.  This includes Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux.

Because of the nature of this product, there is no DBsign related software to install on your computer; all the necessary components are loaded at runtime and require no special permissions on the client computer.

Before you can utilize the UWS, the host application must implement it server side.  Many of our customers have already implemented the UWS, and more are currently planning the switch.

When I try to install DBsign, the process stops at 100% but will not complete.  What can I do?

Some older versions of the DBsign Web Signer installer have exhibited this issue.

You can download the latest installer here.

I have OS X Snow Leopard (10.6) and I am having trouble logging into DTS. What can I do?

Versions of the DBsign Universal Web Signer (UWS) released before OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) did not support 64-bit Safari; this is because all previous versions of OS X used a 32-bit version of Safari. It is possible that the application you are using has not upgraded to the latest version of the UWS.

If you are running Snow Leopard and are having problems with DTS, you can apply a patch that will allow you to log into DTS until their DBsign installation is updated. You can download the update here:

http://www.gradkell.com/downloads/DTS_Snow_Leopard_Patch.dmg

If you cannot apply the patch, try running Safari in 32-bit mode. To do this, you will need to go to your 'Applications' folder right-click on the 'Safari' icon, and then choose 'Get Info'. In the 'Safari Info' window, make sure that the box labeled 'Open in 32-bit mode' is checked.

See screen shots below for enabling Safari 32-bit mode:
